Kindle Book Review

Faeries, werewolves and vampires, oh my!  Fans of the TRUE BLOOD series will feel right at home in this character-driven diversity fest. As any good paranormal romance enthusiast knows, there are many kinds of creatures roaming within the pages of a fantasy story, and this author is not afraid to use them.

Predictably, the hatred and war that can be expected between predators has existed between the wolf and vampire nations for centuries. The faery folk predict a future of peace. However, it seems unlikely when infighting threatens to upset the balance of power even within factions.

Then, in true Romeo and Juliet fashion, Livvie, a wolf-less member of the Romulus pack, meets Darius, an ancient vampire and son of the Egyptian Sun God, Ra.  The question is, of course, can their love become a bond that will heal the rift between their warring nations?

The story is well written. All the loose threads come together. However, there seems to be a bit of confusion in the sentence structure on occasion. Sometimes, too, the dialogue characteristics aren’t in keeping with the character’s background and/or personality. It’s not enough of a problem to distract from the story, but some readers will notice.  Also, although the plot doesn’t contradict itself and the story flows well, the pace feels a bit slow for a paranormal work. My personal taste runs toward more page-turning action and plot twists that spin faster. There are characters aplenty, so lots of food for an action feast.

This is a good read. I recommend it to those who like a well-altered universe and some steamy romance. Also, I recommend it to those who always prefer the book over the movie so they can delve deeper into the characters’ background, motivation and emotions. You will not be disappointed.
